Background
- BCR - 2006 mandates the Blood Tribe, Tribal Government Department to establish the "Kainai Peacemaking Center" as part of the overall Blood Tribe Justice Initiative. (2011 projected date)
- Peacemaking program will accompany this facility.
Peacemaking Program begins
- January 2009 - Blood Tribe Chief and Council appoints the "Peacemakers"
- Ten community members along with four senior advisors were appointed.
- Four elders have been working with the the justice working group since its inception as advisors.
- Peacemakers were consulted with and have since been instrumental in the articulation of Kainai Peacemaking.
- Blood Tribe will utilize it's own philosophy, customs and values for the Peacemaking process rather than adopt European or any other tribe's system.
KPP Development
- February 6th, 2009 - Supervisor, Billy Wadsworth and Researcher, Sherry Tailfeathers were hired.
- March 16th, 2009 - Administrative Assistant, Debbie Melting Tallow was hired.
- This secures the administrative body for the Kainai Peacemaking Program.
